Mobile Phone Dirtier Than Toilet Seat

After being informed there were over 2 millions germs living on my keyboard (equivalent to the number of germs on 440 toilet seats!), I was once again reminded that I’m living life dangerously with my favorite gizmo – the mobile phone.

You probably won’t hold a used shoe to your clean-shaven or delicately powdered face, what with all the bacteria and germs your little swiss army knife mobile communication device pick up from everywhere and everything it comes into contact with.

So why is it that our mobile phones take pride of place, semi-glued to our face when a swab-test carried out earlier this year by UK-based mobile phone retailer, Dial-a-phone, found that phones harbour more bacteria than the soles of shoes and even toilet seats!

From the video,“there are tens of thousands of bacteria on every square inch of your mobile phone. The heat of the phone and the constant handling that it receives makes it an ideal breeding ground for bacteria normally found on the skin….”

Its time we get ourselves a pack of those anti-bacterial wipes!

Toilets are surprisingly sanitary. I'd hate to see how unsanitary a Wii controller is.

i guess i better start cleaning my phone and carry sanitary anti bacterial wipes every now and then..

That's sick! I can't believe how gross some of the electronic devices around my work get - keyboards, mice, phones, etc.

I did not know this. I think i should use a glove to talk with my cell phone :)

Think about this. The head of the toothbrush carries more germs than the brush we use to clean the toilet, yet we still put the toothbrush in our mouths!!!

yeah, people don't wash their mobile phones - i've got lots of friends whose hands are plain filthy!!

imagine how much germs are on their phone??

Don't forget that almost all things around us that we use often are in the same condition. Even our hands. Think how many bacterias are there in your mouth?

I think I'll go clean my phone then...
What a suprising fact.

Hehe nice post, but the reason I put my face on my phone and not the toilet seat is because my face might have a lot of bacteria and it goes on the phone, the bacteria doesn't smell or look as bad as poop. I mean would you put the side of your face on a toilet seat? I hope not =p. Once every other week just take out some baby wipes and use it on your phone, I mean it might not make a big difference but at least consciously you feel better about yourself for being clean!

Who has made recommendations on how to disinfect the phone?

Its just a matter on how you take good care of your things, on how you use it.Just a matter of cleaning.

The great feature of the heated toilet seat is how it feels on a
chilly night. But the impact of no toilet paper for the environment is great.
